Comments: These beetles in genus Disonycha are not easy to identify to species; a variety of species have been recorded from West Virginia. Most have bold colors or patterns and a very glossy surface to the elytra.

Jumping rather than flying is this beetle's preferred method of travel. As with other flea beetles, the hind femora in Disonycha species are enlarged for greater success in jumping.
