Subject: Marbled Fungus Weevil, Euparius marmoreus

Location: Cranberry Wilderness, Monongahela National Forest, West Virginia

Stock Number: 05-9441

Comments: The Fungus Weevils are a small family. They differ from other weevils in having their snout flat and broad and often quite short.

Their food source is fungi and the dead wood that often supports fungi. Adults can be found under the bark of dead trees, or, as here, feeding on fungi on a dead tree trunk.
