Subject: Flat-faced Longhorned Beetle, Leptostylus transversus

Comments: I found this beetle gnawing on some bark lichen in the early Spring. The species is also attracted to lights.

There are three Nearctic species in this genus, all of them found in eastern North America. They are L. albescens, L. gibbulosus, and the one pictured here, L. transversus.
