Subject: Scarab Beetle, Serica cf. iricolor

Location: Eastern Upshur County, West Virginia

Comments: I came across a mass emergence of this attractive species, one mid-May day at an Upshur County wetland.

I have tentatively captioned it Serica iricolor, although Professor Phillip Harpootlian notes that S. sericea is similar in appearance with this colorful sheen.
