Comment: Alaska has a relatively short list of Odonate species. The family represented by the most species there is the Darner family, and the genus represented by the most species is the Mosaic Darner genus, Aeshna. The Zigzag darner is a Mosaic Darner that derives its common name from the shape of the stripes on the sides of its thorax.
