Comments: In many areas of the east this is the most common woodland salamander. Even the biggest individuals of this species reach only about four inches.

The redback salamander hunts invertebrates for its food, preferring mites, ants, worms, snails, and spiders.

To find Redbacks, look under rocks, logs, and leaf litter.
