Location: Upshur County, West Virginia Stock Number: 07-23351 Comments: This family of beetles has been labeled with a variety of common names, including Branch-and-Twig Borers, Horned Powder Post Beetles, False Powder Post Beetles, and Bostrichid Beetles. Members of this genus typically make their homes in the branches of dying deciduous trees. When they feed on fruit trees, they are considered agricultural pests. Four members of the genus are found in America north of Mexico: Amphicerus bicaudatus, A. cornuta, A. simplex, and A. teres. |
