Subject: Ground Beetle on Lake Superior shore, Bembidion inaequale

Location: Brule River State Forest, northern Wisconsin

Comments: This genus boasts some four hundred species in North America. Most are found along the shore of ponds, lakes, and rivers. Many of the species prefer mud flats, but this one was photographed on the sandy beach of Lake Superior at the mouth of the Brule River.
