Comments: A beautiful beetle in the genus Calligrapha. Somewhat less common than the similar C. multipunctata.

This species differs from C. multipunctata by having the pronotum all-dark.

In West Virginia, Calligrapha philadelphica is most commonly encountered in May. The species is still found in June, but only seldom is seen in July and August. The foodplant is a Dogwood, Cornus amomum.
