Dendroica coronata, Yellow-rumped Warbler image

Subject: Yellow-rumped Warbler (Myrtle Warber), Dendroica coronata

Location: Beside Raven Lake, Lake County, northeast Minnesota

Stock Number: 07-37407

Comments: Because the Yellow-rumped Warbler feeds on fruits in the fall, it is able to winter farther north than warblers that feed on insects alone.

This species ranges into nearly every part of North America except coastal Alaska and arctic Canada.

The "Myrtle Warbler" until recently was thought to be a distinct species, but is now lumped together with what was called the Audubon's Warbler, under the name Yellow-rumped Warbler.
