Comments: This species is seldom seen, though its voice may be regularly heard in the cloud forests of the western slopes of the Andes in Ecuador and Colombia.

It is a resident of the forest floor, and is more often seen hopping than flying.

Although the species' range is quite limited, the IUCN does not consider the Yellow-breasted Antpitta to be threatened.
