Masked-water tyrant preying on dragonflies

Subject: Masked Water-tyrant, Fluvicola nengeta

Location: Western foothills of the Andes, east of Santo Domino de los Colorados, Ecuador

Stock Number: 08-20019

Comments: This bird was hunting for dragonflies by running across the surface of the lily pads that nearly covered the pond's surface. Very short flights sufficed to catch the dragonflies. Meanwhile another Water-tyrant hunted nearby.
