Location: Cape St. Mary's, Newfoundland

Comments: Cape St. Mary's is home to some 10,000 breeding pairs of Northern Gannets.

In this species, males and females are about the same size and have the same color and markings.

Gannets and Boobies are in the family Sulidae.

In the photo above, the Gannet is hovering, with its feet displayed, giving due warning to the Gannets below that it will be landing on the crowded rock. Below, the Gannet is flying with full forward motion.
