Nesting Pelagic Cormorants image

Subject:Phalacrocorax pelagicus, Pelagic Cormorants, Rookery

Location: Round Island, Alaska

Stock Number: 05-30917

Comments: The male Pelagic Cormorant brings sticks and other plant materials to the female, and the female constructs the nest. Both parents feed the nestlings.

Like owls, Cormorants produce pellets of regurgitated food, and from studying such pellets ornithologists are able to determine what constitutes the diet of these birds.
