Location: Mescalero Sands, Chaves County, New Mexico Stock Number: 06-24583 (above) and 06-24527 (below) Comment: At dawn, the Prairie Chickens were already on the lek and displaying. The males shown here are employing several displays at once: the elevated "ear feathers," the inflated neck sac, the stiffened tail feathers, the spread wing feathers, and the lowered head.
