In 1994 Congress upgraded the monument to National Park status. The Saguaro is the largest cactus found in the United States, occasionally reaching heights of 45 to 50 feet. Its fruits and flowers provide food for wildlife, while a number of bird species nest in the Saguaro in excavated cavities. |
