Comments: This species is found across the eastern United States and southward into Latin America. It also is found in a relatively small area of southern Canada.

Under optimal food and weather conditions Schistocerca americana increases in number and individuals begin massing and moving together in unison. These swarms can do a lot of agricultural damage.
