Comments: Shown above is Bird Rock Cove at Cape St. Mary's in Newfoundland. Some 70,000 seabirds nest on the rocks and cliffs in this area of the cape.

Below is a view of the treeless landscape at Cape St. Mary's. The very pale green area is formed by a large patch of ferns, including Cinnamon Fern. The orange areas (seen in the upper photo as well) are formed by Xanthoria lichens on rock.
