Comments: This genus has about twenty-nine species in the Nearctic. Like other members of the family Sciomyzidae, members of the genus Tetanocera feed on snails and slugs. The concave face (viewed in profile) and the dark markings on the wings are also common traits in the family Sciomyzidae.
