Comment: This species of Trox is less sculpted than others in the genus. It was photographed on the leg of a deer carcass.

Trox are among the last beetles to be attracted to a carcass, arriving in time to feed on the dried hide and hair. They are sometimes found feeding on the hair in owl pellets.
